Lifeguarding

This is the new lifeguard course instituted by the American Red Cross. Upon successful completion, you will receive the following certifications: Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and Automatic External Defibrillator. The National American Red Cross states you must be 15 years old by the END of the class. Anyone failing the water test will receive a refund. NO REFUNDS after the first day of class. All classes are mandatory - no exceptions. Cost covers your books and the American Red Cross fee. Please bring extra towels, a bathing suit, writing utensils, highlighter and paper to each class. If you have any questions please call the Aquatics Manager Amanda Hutcheson at 440-717-4026. Class Limit 8. We will schedule your pre-requisite swim.

Section 01: 10/5 through 11/2  9:00AM to NOON - Saturdays Only 

Section 02: 12/26 through 12/28  9:00AM to 2:00PM - Thursday-Friday 

Section 03: 2/1 through 2/29 9:00AM to 12:00PM

Fees: Member $230, Resident $235, Non-Resident $240


Blue Thunder Swim Team

This team will concentrate on fundamental principles of a swimming in a competitive nature and build on their stroke techniques and endurance. We want to instill values and team spirit as they progress through the season. We will be offering this to all children ages 5 and up. All Swimmers must be able to swim 1 length of the pool using the front crawl. They will be divided up into 2 groups. We are planning 4 meets for the season and these dates are to be determined. Parent volunteers will be needed and we plan on having an end of the season party. Practices will be Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Minimum of 8 participants required per group. Maximum of 20 per age group Groups will start for summer session. Please note there will be a mandatory parent meeting on the first day 5/28 at 6:15pm.


Note that all swimmers will swim from 7 to 8pm

Section 01: September 3 through September 24

Section 02: October 1 through October 22

Section 03: October 29  through November  19th 

Section 04: November 26 through December 19 - No class 11/28

Section 05: January 7 through January 28

Section 06: February 4 through February 25 

Section 07: March 3 through March 24 

Fees (swim team): Member $115, Resident $125, Non-Resident $135


Water Safety Instructors

This course trains instructor candidates to teach all American Red Cross swimming & safety courses except Lifeguarding. Participants will be trained in a "hands on" structure of teaching. Prerequisites: You must be 16 years old by the END of the class. Lifeguarding is NOT a prerequisite. All classes are mandatory - no exceptions. Cost covers your books and the American Red Cross fee. Please bring extra towels, a bathing suit, writing utensils, highlighter and paper to each class. If you have any questions please call the Aquatics Manager Amanda Hutcheson at 440-717-4026. Class Limit 6. You must pre-register for this class.

Section 02:  Thursdays 1/9 through 2/6   4:30-8:30pm

Fees: Member $205, Resident $215, Non-Resident $225


Babysitting

This course teaches potential babysitters good leadership qualities and important decision-making skills. Students will also be taught what to do if an infant or child is choking or and basic first-aid. (No certifications are given) Each student needs to bring a baby doll to class for diapering and bottle-feeding. Pencil and paper are required for class and bring a snack to this class. Age requirements are 11-16 years old. If you have any questions about this class contact the Aquatics Manager Amanda Hutcheson at 440-717 –4026. Class Limit 12 – You must pre-register for this class. American Red Cross Babysitter's Training Certification will be emailed to each participant. Must pre register for this class. All sessions run 9:00AM to 12:00PM

Section 01: 10/25 and 10/26 - Friday and Saturday 

Section 02: 12/7 and 12/8 - Saturday and Sunday 

Section 03: 1/17 and 1/18 Friday and Saturday

 First Aid/CPR/AED Training

This is an American Red Cross class to become certified in all three areas of First Aid, CPR and AED. There will be book work, demonstrations and a test at the end. This class is for all ages and enhances the babysitting certification. You must pre-register for the class.

Section 02: Adult and Pediatric     11/9    9AM to 2PM

Fees: Member $60, Resident $65, Non-Resident $70
