General Guidelines

  • Rubbish collection on major holidays varies. For holiday hours and special collection days, please review our Service Calendar
  • Refuse may be put out no sooner than one half-hour before sunset the evening before collection, but no later than 7 a.m. collection day.
  • Do not use 55-gallon drums or reusable containers without handles.
  • Containers should be bushel size. All rubbish should be put into bags. Rubbish should not be placed in blue bags.
  • The following materials will not be collected as part of regular rubbish: commercial rubbish, contractors' debris, earth, rocks, tree stumps, broken concrete, explosives, poison, or tires.
  • For large quantities of rubbish or large/heavy items, please call Rumpke at 440-746-0678 prior to the pickup date.
  • Please secure your trash so it does not blow around the neighborhood. If you use a container for regular trash, put the contents in a trash bag within the container.

Special Collections

For special collection days and special events, please review our Service Calendar.
  • Appliances - Large metal items such as washers, dryers, lawn mowers, hot water tanks, refrigerators, freezers, treadmills, basketball poles, dehumidifiers, etc. will be picked up by the Public Services Department on Thursdays.  Please call the Service Department at 440-717-4022 early in the week to make arrangements.
  • Community Shred Day: (Saturday, April 7, 2018, 9AM-12PM) In the meantime, residents may bring a small shopping bag to city hall during business hours and feed the contents into the slot of a locked box, the contents of which are shredded every 4 weeks.
  • Computer Collection: Computers are collected year-round at the service garage off Oakes Road between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. on weekdays.
  • Hazardous Waste Roundup: This collection service is offered on weekdays between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the service garage off Oakes Road. This type of waste includes oil-based paints, pesticides, and fertilizers. DO NOT drop off fluorescent lights. Take CFLs (the curly bulbs) to Home Depot or Lowes. Fluorescent tube lights should be taken to any "Battery & Bulbs" retail store (the nearest one is on Pearl Road in Strongsville). A fee applies. Also, latex paints ARE NOT accepted -- they should be dried out and left at the curb on trash day (with the lid off).
  • Scrap Tire Roundup: Bring old tires to the service garage area during stated collections dates in September. Tires on rims will not be accepted. (Note: This service is NOT available year-round.)
