Snow removal process performed by the Service Department involves various levels of duties.  Residents should be aware that the primary roads and hillsare the main focus.   Secondary roads and subdivisions are cleared once all the critical areas are completed.  Road salt is not generally used on subdivision streets unless an unusual ice condition exists.  (The practice of not salting subdivision streets is both ecological and economical.)  The Service Department  will use salt at stop signs, on hills, or at sharp curves.
Motorists should be driving below the posted 25mph speed limit when the streets are covered with snow.  The plow trucks will push accumulated snow off the streets so drivers can carefully maneuver. Finally, cul-de-sac clean-up is performed as the last function of snow removal.  It is often not completed until the day after a storm.  (We have over 140 cul-de-sacs in the city at last count.)
