Soccer Info for Referees

Information about become a soccer referee in Broadview Heights



Soccer referees in Broadview Heights must be 14 years of age and must complete the required forms listed below.  Soccer referees should have experience playing soccer and be knowledgeable about the rules and the game.

Referee's wishing to referee U9 and above soccer games should have completed a referee certification course.  Information about becoming certified can be found at www.ohnref.org.

You can begin the process of becoming a soccer referee in Broadview Heights by submitting an employment inquiry form to the Athletics Manager, Gary Diehl: GDiehl@Broadview-Heights.org.

Referee Pay Card
Submit your pay card after you have refereed your games.  Checks will arrive to your mail approximately 2 weeks after submission of the card.  Card should be submitted at the Rec Center front desk.

Referee Rules Cheat Sheet

Keep a copy of this rules cheat sheet with you at all games.  Review the rules specific for the age group with both coaches prior to each game.

Required Forms for Soccer Referees

Each referee is required to have the following forms on file with us:

Independent Contractor Form: Soccer
(This is only required once)

W9
(This is only required once)

OPERS Form
(This is only required once)

Minor Work Permit
(This is required for each school year per activity)

State of Ohio Concussion Training Certificate
The State of Ohio requires all coaches, umpires and referees to complete a course on the recognizing and understanding sports related concussions.  Click the above link for more information and a link to the course.
