Boards & Commissions

Boards, commissions, and committees (made up of residents) provide important services to the city and its residents. They are volunteers. These groups offer opportunities for residents to become involved in city government.
  1. Board of Zoning Appeals

    The primary duty of the board is to consider difficulties and unnecessary hardships resulting from the enforcement of the Zoning Code.

  2. Civil Service Commission

    This commission determines the fitness and merit of candidates for full-time positions and promotions in the Broadview Heights Police Department and Fire Department.

  3. Parks & Recreation Advisory Board

    The board represents city residents when making recommendations on parks and recreation issues to improve the quality of life in Broadview Heights.

  4. Planning Commission

    The primary duty of this commission is to enforce city laws and ordinances that govern commercial, industrial, and residential development.

  5. Shade Tree Commission

    This commission determines the types and kinds of trees to be planted along city streets, parks, and grounds.
