Function

The City of Broadview Heights Engineering Department is responsible for managing and maintaining the City’s capital improvement projects in all phases of design and construction. These projects include, but are not limited to, roadways, storm sewers, sanitary sewers, culverts and bridges. In additional to public infrastructure projects, the Engineering Department oversees private residential and commercial projects to ensure compliance with City Codified Ordinances, City Standards, Federal Regulations and EPA requirements. 

 

General Responsibilities

Propose capital improvement projects based on the demand of the City and budget.

Manage and maintain the City’s capital improvement projects in all phases of design and construction.

Perform utility inspections related to public and private improvement projects. 

Provide professional engineering consultation to the Mayor, City Council and Broadview Heights Residents. 

Coordinate with federal and local agencies.

Record retainage of the sanitary sewer collection system, water distribution lines, storm sewers, subdivisions, culverts, roadways, bridges, and City right of way.

Perform GIS asset management, design services, and project management for City projects.

Ensure that capital improvement and private development projects comply with City Codified Ordinances, City Standards, Federal Regulations and EPA requirements.

Prepare and review permits for land development, and right of way.

Administer state-regulated sanitary sewer and storm sewer regulations.

Provide Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) flood plain information to citizens.
